| At first, Frederick Sommer laid these precisely cut pieces loosely in a shallow box and gently moved or added pieces, looking for connections that hinted at new interpretations or layered possibilities. These loose collages were photographed with an 11 x 14 inch camera and contacted printed. Many of these photographs are in the collection of the Princeton University Art Museum. |
